Hughes winds up to hit a driver to start up a round.

So far, another winning season for the Blake Boys Golf team as they continue to dominate the greens with their skills and determination.

Jimmy Hughes ‘26, part of the boys’ varsity team, says, “So far the team has been doing well, as we won our conference match on Thursday. We had a match against provenance that we won by 31. We had one tournament with 12 teams and we ended up 3rd or 4th. We are improving.” One honorable star player for the Blake team is Ian Friederichs ‘25, who is currently positioned and ranked first in the state for individuals and was able to secure a win in the recent IMAC Tournament.

Another honorable mention is George Stockwell ‘26 who overall has improved a lot as he had the best score against Minnehaha as Gross National. So far the team has won five matches and in one of the matches they managed to successfully win 5th place out of 19 other competitive teams.

For the future of the Blake Boys Golf team, Hughes adds, “As of now, we are hoping to make the state tournament, which we are on track for. To make it to state we need to beat all of the IMAC teams along with Hill Murray and Holy Angels. The next couple of years are looking good as we will have multiple seniors and juniors after this season.”
