Coming off a recent 3-0 win over the North Polars, the volleyball team is a hidden gem among live sports. A sport filled with high intensity play among high energy crowds, this sport takes a different approach in viewing. Captain Charlotte Hackett ‘26 says, “I know a lot of people who came to a game this year for the first time, and have been really impressed. They hadn’t understood how fun the atmosphere was.” Maddie Raih ‘26 expanded on what Hackett said by stating, “It’s not like a football game where you’re so far away from all of the action – you can see what the players are doing, see where the ball is going, and I think it’s great.” After a big win against rival school Minnehaha, the bench rushed the court which adhered to this first-rate viewing experience.
The Blake Bears have gone 3-0 over their last three matches with no signs of slowing down, this emerging team has credited their recent success to their chemistry, as Hackett is quoted saying, “I think we’ve gotten better at trusting each other on the court, I think we have more confidence in each other, and knowing that each person is on the court for a reason.” Milestones have been reached this season as senior captain Catherine Lin ‘25 achieved the landmark of 1,000 assists, while junior hitters Grace Trinacty ‘26 and Maren Farazi ‘26 are competing to lead the team in kills.
On Friday, they are set to appear in the second round of sections vs. Kimball, and want your support. Contribute your time towards your fellow peers and encourage them as they get one step closer to the state title. This is your chance to maintain the team’s momentum. As Klarissa Yu ‘26 puts it, “Come watch our section games because volleyball matches are always loud, fast-paced, and better with fans.” Your energy in the stands could make all the difference as Blake fights for victory.
